Laura Allred

1) How long have you been involved with Team Fight?
I joined Team Fight two years ago, at the February 2010 Kick off!

2) How did you get involved with Team Fight and the Ulman Cancer Fund?
My friend Dane was making a positive life change and had put it in his mind to start doing endurance events. He found Team Fight through his knowledge of Ulman Cancer Fund, and invited me to make the change with him. I had been a smoker for the last 10 years and needed something BIG to get me out of the unhealthy life I was living. I had no idea what I was in for! I have made some very deep and lasting friendships through my Team Fight community and I meet more inspiring people every day!

3) What is your favorite race on the Team Fight schedule and why?
I love the Baltimore Run Festival. I have run the half, the relay, and hope to run the full one day. The most important part of the day for me is watching the Howard County/Baltimore Cancer to 5k programs run their first 5k! Running with them tops any race I could do on my own.

4) Tell us more about you…
I was born in Maryland but raised in Maine. I came down to attend the University of Maryland, and graduated with a B.S. in Biology. I met my now fiance my senior year and we have stayed local since! I am now in biotechnology sales and I get to see amazing research performed every day. To see cancer research up close and meet the scientists that are spending their lives committed to it is inspiring on a different level. It really brings the cancer fight full circle for me.

5) What are you most looking forward to for Team Fight in 2012?
I am looking forward to meeting new people, sharing stories and laughter, having new adventures and finding new races and more challenges every day! I can’t wait to see what the Rev3 and Ulman Cancer Fund partnership will bring to the Half Full triathlon, and to our tri community!
